This morning, my husband and I were seriously craving waffles — so I went on a mission to find a recipe I could adapt to fit my new diet goals!
I found this great starting point from FamilyFoodOnTheTable.com:
👉 Easy Whole Wheat Waffles Recipe
The original recipe called for butter, oil, and regular milk — but luckily, it also suggested some easy swaps! I made a few adjustments and ended up with a fun, delicious breakfast that made me feel good too.
Here’s what I used:
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups white whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ cups almond milk
- ½ cup unsweetened dairy-free yogurt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
We topped our waffles with fresh slices of strawberries 🍓 and bananas 🍌, plus just a few semi-sweet chocolate chips for a little extra treat!
It turned out so good — definitely a new go-to for our weekends. 💛
